Classic Tavener's Pontefract Cakes, the liquorice sweet with an enviable history. Still extremely popular today, Pontefract Cakes are soft liquorice disc shaped sweets, each imprinted with an image of Pontefract Castle. They are thought to be one the world's oldest confectioneries, the trademark for the sweet being established as early as 1612.
